Why Electric Dreams exists
A note from our founder.
Hi there!
In 2023, my family's beloved RAV4 was starting to show its age. Every WoF revealed more maintenance issues. Every fuel-up was starting to bite.
After a lot of research — YouTube videos, forum posts, asking around — we bought a second-hand MG4 from EV City. What struck us was how good it was. It was like going from a tractor to a starship.
Even better, the financial case started to stack up every week we charged at home. Trips around the South Island worked out just as well, thanks to the rapid chargers from ChargeNet and Meridian. We were sold.
What I didn't expect was what came next. After electrifying our transport, we started running the numbers on everything else. Heat pump hot water cylinders. Home solar. Batteries. Ebikes. Instead of researching EVs we were researching the rest of our lives.
That's when it clicked: when we bought our EV, we were actually buying into an ecosystem.
